Last time I have been to Prague was more than ten years ago, so it was about time to visit this beautiful city again and check out the bar and restaurant scene. There were already quite some bars on my list so the task was to see as many bars as possible but still to enjoy it. On one hand we were lucky that on Sunday it was beautful weather and on Saturday it was raining and we had an excuse to be indoors. I kind of hoped the bars would open earlier and we could start daydrinking but I guess it was better that way. We stayed in Prague 7 in the Mama Shelter hotel which is a converted all hotel buidling and the area is very upcoming with a lot of hip places for eating, drinking and shopping. Please find below the best recommendations from the trip to prague including the best cocktail bars.

Best cocktail bars in Prague
Shrinks Office
The second bar from Filip Stranksy and his brother who opened Anomymous bar a while back and is for sure one of the most well known cocktail places across borders even throughout Europe. More focused on a speakeasy concept, where the guests are patients and the bartenders are therapists. Well isn’t that kind of always the case? ;-). If you prefer a more laid pack concept with beer and Bourbon, try their third bar in town called Bulletproof.

Cobra
A laid back bar/eatery in Prague 7 with friendly staff. They do an excellent breakfast and a mean Bloody Mary. The other cocktails are solid too and if you are in the area you should drop by and check it out.

Anonymous Bar
Look for this hidden gem off the main street in downtown Prague. High volume cocktail place and the first concept of genius Filip Stranksy. V for Vendetta is program and the Guy Fawkes mask is omnipresent. The place can get super busy at night and it might be difficult to get in. In summer there is also a courtyard to enjoy the cocktails.

Beyond the Bar
This place was recommended to me by Filip from Anyonymous Bar. The bar apparently has not been around for such a long time but we were very positively surprised about this cocktail bar. Beyond the Bar has very friendly staff is cool but at the same time unpretentious. The menu had the right size with the right amount of creativity. We came for an early apero and had plenty of time. The upper bar is not very big but there is ample space downstairs and it hosts a second bar counter.

L’Fleur
In the middle of the buzzy district in downtown Prague. It could well be mistaken with all the drinking places around it and you wouldnt think this place is a cocktail bar. We went in pretty late and the place was packed. Pretty high volume and quite some partying going on. Staff was very friendly though and they have their own cocktails and do classics as well. It is liked by locals a lot too.

Hemingway Bar
Probably the oldest cocktail bar in town and very famous. Still a place to go and it gets pretty packed in the evening. If you like to sit at the bar to see what is going on, this place might not be for you. There are many different “hideouts” throughout the winding rooms. Try the dry martini with cheese if you are into this kind of drink. Cheers.

Black Angels Bar
This cocktail bar is located in the Hotel U Prince also in the heart of Prague. Walk downstairs and find this nautical inspired bar. They have a strict no photo policy and you are not even allowed to take photos of the menu even though the menu explains an intersting story about Alois Krcha. Check him out. The drinks were very solid and I am sure you have a good time at this bar. The bartenders though seemed a bit cold and reserved which was a bit of a shame.

Other Bar recommendations
The following bars were recommended to me by local bartenders but I was not able to visit them this time.
Bar Pilotu: Very local place a bit outside of downtown. Take an Uber.
Parlour: Another cocktail place which got recommended to us.
Brut. Wine & Oysters: A cool place in Prague 7.

Eska
Highly recommendable brunch place in the Eastern part of Prague. Yes you can walk from downtown or take a quick Uber hop but it is very much worth it. Downstairs there is a shop and their own bakery with excellent delights and upstairs you find the hip, industrial style restaurant area. Food was delicious. Go and check it out.

Field
Well a bit of fine dining just had to be and I have seen a fair portion of Michelin star places in my life and I would return to this place without hesitation. In my opinion this place could easily get 2 Michelin stars. It had only one but for me it was THE star in town. Lovely very bit of it including the stylish elements of the interior design and the high level of attention to detail. A must see.

Kolektor
Initially thought this a school or student area as it was packed with a young and hip crowd who all seemed students. Lots of students for sure but also a hip, creative crowd with young mums and a fair share of dog owners. There is always something going on and you could hang out the whole day. Take a book or laptop and pretend to read or work. Place is located a stonedrop away from Mama Shelter in Prague 7.
