Best Cocktail Bars in Singapore

Best Cocktail Bars in Singapore found at The Pouring Tales

Last time I have been to Prague was more than ten years ago, so it was about time to visit this beautiful city again and check out the bar and restaurant scene. There were already quite some bars on my list so the task was to see as many bars as possible but still to enjoy it. On one hand we were lucky that on Sunday it was beautful weather and on Saturday it was raining and we had an excuse to be indoors. I kind of hoped the bars would open earlier and we could start daydrinking but I guess it was better that way. We stayed in Prague 7 in the Mama Shelter hotel which is a converted all hotel buidling and the area is very upcoming with a lot of hip places for eating, drinking and shopping. Please find below the best recommendations from the trip to prague including the best cocktail bars.

Analogue

Masterpiece by Vijay Mudaliar who also owns Native. Analogue is his newer bar in the Chijmes area of Singapore. Fully vegan with their exquisite dishes and excellent cocktails by his young team. They focus on zero waste, even the whole bar counter is from recycled material and it looks super stylish. They are also focused on the strain the work  has on the employees and try to minimize the body impact a long shift has by streamlining processes during the preparation but also the bar layout as such. All in a all a very cool bar which you should visit when coming to Singapore.

Atlas

Atlas Bar is more than just a place to enjoy drinks; it’s an experience of sophistication and luxury. The bar is housed in a grand Art Deco building, and its interior is a breathtaking homage to the glamour of the Roaring Twenties. The building is just absolutely crazy and even if you don’t want to go for a drink, go and see the place.

Atlas Bar boasts an extensive collection of rare and vintage spirits, including an impressive array of gins, whiskies, and other liquors. The centerpiece of the bar is the towering gin tower, showcasing an impressive selection of gins from around the world.

Last Word

This place is situated above Nutmeg and Clove and is run like a traditional Japanese bar. Very classical, and the cocktails are executed to perfection with a calmness of a Japanese bartender and the focus is actually on classic cocktails hence the name which comes from the Last word cocktail. We enjoyed our night there and it is also a place where you can still talk without a big party going on around you. We also had some food and it was absolutely delicious.

Jigger & Pony

Jigger & Pony has earned a reputation for its expertly crafted cocktails and stylish ambiance. The bar is often praised for its commitment to mixology, using high-quality ingredients to create a diverse and innovative menu.

The atmosphere at Jigger & Pony is a blend of sophistication and warmth. The bar is designed to provide a comfortable yet stylish setting, making it suitable for both casual outings and more formal occasions. The knowledgeable and skilled bartenders add to the overall experience, creating bespoke cocktails tailored to individual preferences. We did not have much time when we came so we only had 2 drinks each and they did not dissapoint. The bar is very famous, probably the best known bar in town internationally.

Sago House

Quite the opposite of the other places I talked about. Sago house is rather new but it took the mixology scene of Singapore by storm. It feels more like a pub/bar/dive bar/cocktail place with a young crowd and it is buzzing and loud. We were there on weekend and it was hard to find a spot. The have some daily special and if they are out, they are out. I would love to go back and try some more of their creations. The place is real fun.

Native

Situated in Singapore’s Amoy Street, Native has made a name for itself as a pioneer in the field of sustainable and regional-focused mixology. The bar is committed to using locally sourced and foraged ingredients, including herbs, fruits, and spirits from the Asia-Pacific region. This is the first bar from Vijay Mudaliar and a well known name in the city.

The cocktail menu at Native is a testament to creativity and craftsmanship. Bartenders skillfully blend unique flavors, often incorporating indigenous ingredients to create drinks that capture the essence of the local terroir. The menu may change seasonally to highlight the freshest and most interesting ingredients. The food we had but also the drinks were very delicious. Highly recommended.

This cocktail bar is located in the Ritz Carlton. We did not have much time and only had one drink. Typical hotel bar but they made a name for themselves and are in the top 50 asia. Drinks are innovative and we enjoyed the one we had. Would love to taste some more from their menu on my return.

Labyrinth

From the moment we stepped into Labyrinth, located in the heart of the Esplanade Mall, I sensed that this wasn’t just a restaurant; it was a voyage into the heart of Singaporean cuisine, reimagined and elevated to an art form.

The ambiance was a perfect blend of modern elegance and warmth even though it was in a mall.

Chef Han Li Guang’s approach to Singaporean cuisine was nothing short of a revelation. Each dish on the tasting menu seemed like a carefully crafted story, weaving together traditional flavors with a modern twist. It was as if he had taken the essence of local hawker stalls and transformed them into edible poetry. Super interesting experience and we enjoyed it a lot especially because it was Singaporian food in such a setting.

Tian Tian

Nestled in the bustling Maxwell Food Centre in Singapore, Tian Tian Chicken Rice is more than just a hawker food stall; it’s an institution. As I approached the stall, the aromatic scent of chicken rice filled the air, creating a sense of anticipation that comes with knowing you’re about to embark on a culinary delight.

The queue at Tian Tian is a testament to its popularity, and as I patiently waited, I observed the expert hands of the hawker masters skillfully preparing each plate. When it was finally my turn, I eagerly ordered the iconic Hainanese chicken rice, a dish that has garnered both local and international acclaim. We tried Tian Tian and the competition which had less of a queue. Both were actually delicious so if you want to wait less go there.
