Palmer & Co – Sydney

Palmer & Co - Sydney found at The Pouring Tales 1

Sydney is not too short of famous bars and Palmer & Co is certainly among them. Well located in the CBD area and close to other famous bars like Bulletin Place or Lobo Plantation it is definitely one that should be on your tour list not only for the drinks but for the very cool interior and the live music.

Cheers!

The bar is divided in various different areas; it almost feels like a labyrinth, all hosted in a vault with brick walls and ceiling supported by big wooden beams. Small tables, high tables divided by vitrines with 1920 memorabilia ranging from stuffed animals, hats and old soda siphons. Mosaic floor but all carefully balanced and no costs were spared while designing this space. Everything fits in here, from beautiful bar staff and dapper dressed bartenders to the 20’s inspired cocktail menu. The obligatory carbon filament lamps finish the mood supported by indirect wall lights. You have to find your own seat as the hosts are not in charge of seating you. That could potentially end in a bit of hassle finding a spot when the bar is packed. There are no shortcomings when it comes to cocktails. Had the 12 mile limit, a drink light on the citrus and a slight note of grenadine and well balanced with rum, whisky and cognac. The Joe Redding Julep was a delight too. Port, rum, cognac – extremely flavourful! Full bodied and strong for a julep. It came in a highball rather than a julep glass though.
