Dan & Jean – the duo behind The Pouring Tales
Based in Zurich, Dan and Jean are lifelong cocktail lovers and tireless travel enthusiasts. Fueled by an insatiable hunger for new destinations and a deep passion for food and drink, they’re constantly in pursuit of their next great adventure – and their next great cocktail.
Dan’s journey into hospitality began at the prestigious École Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), where he laid a solid foundation in the industry. His career took flight – quite literally – in aviation food and beverage, where he managed inflight concepts for Lufthansa Group’s Hub Airlines. Today, he works at the intersection of luxury and logistics as a catering interface for private aviation.
A speakeasy aficionado at heart, Dan has also explored the world of hidden bars, having worked in a secret Zurich den and hosted his own underground projects: Flatbrook Attic and The Last Toucan.
Jean brings a unique blend of creativity and curiosity to the table. A communications and marketing expert in the aviation industry, she’s endlessly fascinated by people and fiercely passionate about Martinis – the dirtier, the better. Her global curiosity for food and drink, whether alcoholic or not, leads her to unforgettable places far and wide.
Together, Dan and Jean thrive on discovering new cultures, building connections, and seeking out the most authentic, of-the-moment bars and eateries. Whether traveling for work or pleasure, they’re always on the lookout for intriguing cocktails and hidden gems – because life’s too short for shitty drinks.
The Pouring Tales is their ongoing chronicle: a vibrant mix of stories, snapshots, maps, and reviews from the world’s most compelling bars and barkeepers. Come along for the ride – your next favorite drink might just be a tale away.
