Safely hidden behind a shoe and accessories store in the middle of Singapore you step into the calm, cosy and stylish place of Daiki Kanetaka of Japanese origin. If you are familiar with the bar scene in Japan, you realise that this place brings some of its benefit with it to Singapore. Foremost the Japanese bartender philosophy: Very devoted but shy. Service is at the pinnacle at D Bespoke and Daiki makes sure that this remains a differentiator of this place. It basically underlines the feeling that you have when you enter this place. The most beautiful glassware, smooth jazz playing in the background, no cocktail menu, just an extensive spirits list, heavy leather seats, wooden walls and surely something not to be missed in a Japanese style bar; clear ice in perfection. All in all, a hint of decadence but suitable for this colonial style bar. Daiki spent some time in Andalusia and Normandy therefore you find an extensive list of Sherries and Calvados and as usual an extensive range of whiskies which is almost a must for a Japanese bar. Bar wise Daiki is well travelled too. He had a bar in Beijing and is never short of new ideas. This does not come as a surprise having learned at the famous Star Bar and High Five in Tokyo. Our drinks with Talisker, Calvados, Apricot liqueur and orange bitter or Armagnac, Cocchi, Antica and aromatic bitter were divine. Be sure to come here if you want to escape buzzing Singapore and find an oasis of tranquillity.
